The members of the SSAA and the shooters at Springvale love to pass on the skills and fun of their sport to new shooters.
Ranges are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 5.00pm – 9.00pm
Saturday: 10.00am – 6.00pm
Sunday: 12.00 noon – 5.00pm
*note: you must not be a prohibited person under the Firearms Act
Just have a go
With shooters licence – attend range, shoot only if RO available
Without shooter licence – anyone can shoot at a range under supervision of a fully licenced shooter and/or range officer.
Costs
- member $8.50 Junior $2.80 – includes loan of .22 rifle with scope
- non member $15.00 Junior $7.80 – includes loan of .22 rifle with scope
- plus targets (50c), ammo(approx $5.50 per 50), hearing plugs (approx 60c)
Ring range on 95470007 to check if Range Officer available to supervise when you want to have a go but normally volunteer available most times. You will receive basis safety instructions and general idea on how to shoot and use the range. This is not a lesson, just having a go.or coming to practice after lessons, sight in your rifle, practice for hunting and competitions.
2 hour lesson
A proper shooting lesson with accredited coach. To prepare you for your practice times, to introduce you to the proper and safe way to shoot. Breathing, trigger control, scopes, eradication of bad habits, stance, equipment, the next step.with theory and practice.
Includes rifle, ammo, targets, earplugs, coach. Up to 4 in a group. Cost $30. Bookings essential Allen Bingham 9580 2166. Times as mutually agreed during normal range opening times.
Youth Training Scheme
An ongoing coaching and competition club organised by the parents for the kids. Ages 12 – 24. Over 100 kids on the mailing list and spaces for about 50 at a time. Springvale range meet the 1 st Sunday of the month. Bookings essential. Cost $5 all inclusive. Heavily subsidized and supported by the SSAA (Vic), Sub Clubs and members. Requires kids to become junior members and start process to attain junior licence after the first few months if continuing with the club. For information and bookings ring Mary on 9580 2166. Parent permission compulsory. Short or long term – great for families with country properties, problems with computer games/film concerns, Duke of Edinburgh and scout badges.

Womens Group
Special introductory courses are offered to women of all ages. To be instructed gently and carefully into the art of shooting different firearms and different disciplines. Theory and practice over 4 Thursday night sessions followed by socializing and drinks in the clubhouse. All inclusive $4 x $20 payable in advance by ringing Shane at State Office on 8892 2777. Great way to demystify shooting and firearms and starting a new sport.
The SSWG the womens sub club at Springvale meet on the 2 nd and 4 th Thursday evenings from 6.00, shoot at 7.00 (practice, comps and coaching) and dine/drink together before or afterwards. Some social functions are held throughout the year and membership for this group is only $20 (lifetime). For information contact the State Office.

Group bookings
Many varied groups use the range for different get togethers.
Scouts/Rangers, Cadets, Schools ($13 all inclusive). Bucks or Hen nights, birthday parties, etc ($30 all inclusive). Corporate Meetings (conference room avail for hire) followed by Shoot, Dinner and Drinks. Price on application. Scout groups also have the option to contact Karl on 5964 6164 to arrange for special scout instruction groups on the 2nd Wednesday evening of the month. Bookings, confirmation and permission slips are essential for under 18's.
Gift vouchers
Pre paid or promissory are avail for Lessons by calling Allen on 9580 2166 $30 all inclusive. Great present for someone who has always wanted to have a go but never gotten around to it. Times arranged by mutual agreement.
